A Day in the Life of Calvin

I took this idea from Katie's sister-in-law. I loved how it showed what all occurs in the day of a little one. I couldn't get a picture of everything since it was just me and Calvin but I think the ones I got sums up our day.

A Day in the Life of Calvin:

7:30am  Wake up- I think I got too much sleep because I didn't grab my camera on the way to get him out of bed. I make coffee and we snuggle on the couch for a little bit. I try to watch the Today Show, usually only enough to catch the weather and then Calvin wants to watch a new show. Friday started their concert series so we got to see Rihanna sing and Calvin was happy dancing in my arms.

Around 9:00 Our morning call from Auntie aka "dee tee": Calvin gets so excited when the phone rings. He says "dada" or "dee tee" whenever he hears it. He is quite the chatter bug. He walks around with the phone and if you aren't paying close attention he will quickly say "bye" and then hang up on the person.

Meltdown: At some point in the morning usually when a commercial comes or Calvin doesn't like what I have to say we have a meltdown. I missed him throwing the fit but this his him laying on the floor pouting. He is the cutest little pouter though.

Breakfast: Oatmeal is usually on our breakfast menu but I recently purchased a granola from Enjoy Life that Calvin loves! I add his rice milk with the granola and strawberries and he is one happy boy. Once he is done eating, he reminds me he needs his vitamins. We are working on how to say the color options for his vitamins. He is getting pretty good at saying purple.

10:00 Off to the Goodyear Splash Pad: Nothing like a little sun to make him take a good nap. Calvin loves playing in the water. The splash pad also has two playgrounds that Calvin is getting quite confident on. (It makes me nervous but he has to learn sometime how to climb up on his own) We go down the slides and play with the different toys the equipment has.

11:15 Back home for some more play time and then lunch: Calvin pretending to cook while I made lunch for the both of us. His kitchen is one of his favorite toys. He can be so creative in his play. He mixes things up and then pretends to feed it to us.

All this hard work makes the cook thirsty.

The joy of a flash light! Calvin goes into the cabinets or the closet and has the best time waving the flashlight around.

12: 30 Nap time! - Nap time today took a little extra cuddling but he finally fell asleep and slept for 2 hours! I finally got to shower and started getting ready for a party we were all going to later that day.

3:00 After nap we got a quick snack and then took a bath. I pushed his high chair up to the counter and Calvin ate while I finished cutting up the rest of the strawberries.

4:15 Daddy comes home! While I was finishing up getting ready, Calvin weaseled Bryon into giving him a little snack. I took out the camera and Calvin started to throw a fit. Daddy came to the rescue and helped him get up after he fell onto the floor.

5:00 Retirement party: Today was an extra busy day with a retirement party for Bryon's cousin who was retiring from the Navy. Calvin has a GREAT time. He danced and danced and danced. Calvin has reached the stage of getting anxiety from people he hasn't seen in a while. He quickly warmed up to everyone giving them high fives and pounds. I didn't bring the camera to capture his amazing dance moves. Bryon took this on his phone while Calvin ate dinner.

9:30 Ready for bed: We didn't think Calvin would last that long at the party but all that dancing caused him to forget about the time. When we got home we said good bye to Grandma and Grandpa Bewley then it was off to bed. We changed into pjs, put lotion on, and got our nose spray. He slept great until a little before 6 when he wet the bed. It was a quick change of clothes and sheets and he fell back asleep in my arms.

Calvin is such a joy to be around! He amazes me everyday. Even with him starting his defiant twos, I am so glad I get to stay at home with him and watch him grow. He has such a kind heart and loves to give hugs and kisses just because he feels like it. I can't believe he is going to be two in just a few short months. I don't know where the time has gone.

U.S. Air Force's Newest Member

Yesterday we joined Kevin as he got sworn into the U.S. Air Force! It was a whirlwind of emotions. We are so happy and excited for him and his new journey. Calvin has been working on his salute, a request of Uncle Kevin's to have him saluting for his graduation. Calvin has the motion down, all we need to do is have him straighten out his fingers.

It's official!!! Kevin gave his fingerprint.
Kevin was able to make a quick phone call to mom and dad letting them know he arrived safely.

Easter

It is finally time to play catch up again on the blog. April was one crazy month!

Calvin woke up to find is Easter basket filled with a monkey, Curious George movie, and chalk. (Calvin is into monkeys, can you tell) We went to Sunday morning church service and were able to sit with the Bewley Family. It has been a while since all of us attended the same service. (Due to Calvin's allergies we have to go to the earliest service time.) With it being Kevin's last holiday we wanted to make sure we spent it with him. Our neighbors were able to join us this year. The kids all had a blast walking in the "forest" of my parents' backyard.

Calvin loves playing with Bryon's hats when we are getting ready in the morning. Calvin wanted Bryon to wear a hat too.

All ready for church.

Calvin got to dye Easter eggs with the help of Pap and Bryon. I was a bit on the nervous side since is allergic to eggs.  He had a blast! He would throw his hands in the air saying I did it.  Auntie Katie had the best idea of giving them water in a colored up after a while of dying the eggs the regular way.

I love this picture!

The Easter Bunny made a special trip to Pap and Grammie's house bringing balls and blow up ocean animal sprinklers for Calvin and Mia. We let them play after everyone went home. It was a bit on the chilly side but that didn't stop Calvin. Mia had her diaper off and wanted Calvin to take his off too. She kept saying "iper, iper" and pulling at his diaper.

Cops and Donuts Shops

Here are the rest of the pictures from Bryon's squad's fundraiser. The whole family came out to support the Special Olympics. Bryon's brother Troy was even working in the area and came over to say hi. Calvin loved the "tractor" until it was turned on.

Cops and their donuts :) We think he shared with Katie and Mia...
