Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving this year was held at Aunt Karen and Papa J's house. The whole gang was there to spend the day together. Calvin enjoyed his own safe Thanksgiving meal as we enjoyed the yummy meal Aunt Karen prepared. Caden dined on sweet potatoes and pears for his 1st Thanksgiving meal. We had a fun and lazy day with the family.
We have a lot to be thankful for this year. We had the safe and healthy arrival of Caden. We have the protection of God over us, a home we love, Bryon has a secure job that he enjoys,  I get to stay at home and raise my two amazing boys, and we have an amazing family and great friends.

Calvin and Bryon took the Rhino out for a drive. Calvin had so much fun he managed to get more rides from me and Pap. Who can say no to that sweet face?

Halloween

Yes, it is the last day in November and I am just posting Halloween. What can I say....time just goes too fast. Surprisingly enough Halloween was so much fun this year. (It ranks low on my favorite holiday list. Kind of right at the bottom with Valentine's Day...) Calvin went from wanting to be a ghost, to a Air Force guy, to Batman, to a ghost again, and finally settled on a knight! Whew! I think it had something to do with him being able to have a sword. Just a guess though. So what better than to have a knight without a drooling dragon to fight off! Our friend Mary did the kids photos and they turned out so cute!

Our brave knight!

 Our fierce dragon!

We were able to carve pumpkins with our neighbors for the 2nd year in a row. I made pumpkin seeds, which Calvin remembered from the year before, while Daddy carved two awesome super hero pumpkins. Batman was Caden's and Calvin selected Spider Man. This being Caden's first Halloween, we put his hand in the pumpkin goo and he wasn't timid at all. He of course tried putting it in his mouth right away but what else did we expect.

On Halloween night, the whole Bewley family went trick or treating at Troy and Alison's. Calvin was really excited and practiced how to say "trick or treat" because Jake and the Neverland Pirates say "trick or treasure" so we had to tell him what knights say. Calvin made us look in his bowl after every house we went to and was thrilled when we went to a house that had a safe treat! Caden the dragon was very content sitting in his stroller letting Papa push him along while he watched everything that was going on.

This is what our pumpkin looked like Halloween night. Guess you aren't supposed to carve it 3 days in advance! So gross!!

Bryon and I went to his boss' Halloween party the weekend before. We had a great time. Some people even thought Bryon was a real firefighter. We thought of a great plan for when we showed up because of the rivalry between fire and police. According to the police, fire does not show up on scene until it is safe and secure. So when we went to the party I banged on the front door and when they answered I asked it if was "safe" while Bryon waited around the corner (just like the fire dept. does). Once his boss said it was safe, Bryon came around the corner right when their fog machine went off. Between the fog and the black light it was quite the sight! If only there was slow motion music playing in the background.

Happy Halloween!

Caden 6 months old and on the move!

We have reached the six month mark and that means time to re-baby proof our house! If you want to see Caden move across the floor quickly, put one of Calvin's toys out or the bag of wipes. It is not an official army crawl but he is on the move pushing himself wherever he wants to go. He has found that he loves the wood floor. It is a great source of entertainment as he hits his hands repeatedly on the floor to make noise.

We just had his 6 month check up and Caden weighs 18 pounds and is 26.25 inches long! He is eating oatmeal, pears, and peaches. The doctor suggested we start with fruits that start with the letter p to help aide Caden in his digestion. It is working great so far and we aren't having to give juice like we were before to help him go. There may be some tummy pains related to the peaches, so I will be monitoring that closely the next few times he eats them. I just got a food processor and can't wait to make him baby food!

What Caden has been up to:
  - Puts his binkie in his mouth in the middle of the night!!! (when he can find it)
  - Has two bottom teeth
  - Objects when things are taken from him
  - LOVES his baby food. Even gets up set if he is sitting at the table when we are eating and he is not.
  - He's a  Mama's boy! (there are pros and cons to this I am finding)
  - Starting to put him in his bed at naptime to he can learn to fall asleep on his own.
  - Loves to gives smiles
  - Still drools nonstop. Wondering when more teeth are going to show up
  - Holds his own bottle!

Diamondbacks Game

As the season is winding down for the D-backs we were able to sneak in a game at the end of August with my parents. We had great seats out in the bleachers. Calvin and Caden did amazing at the game. Calvin got up to walk around for an inning or two and that was it. He enjoyed yelling with the crowd and cheering on the players.

After the game we waited in line so Calvin could go on the field and run the bases. We were all sad it was for kids only. Luckily Calvin got a bit distracted looking at the men work on the pitcher's mound and stopped running. I was able to go onto the field and walk the bases. But as I got to Calvin, he started to run again and left me walking by myself with Caden. One lady smiled and said that is the youngest runner I have ever seen. I didn't care. I had so much fun having to rescue Calvin.

 Throw me the ball!!!

And he's off!

And he's distracted :)

The end of a very fun day!

Sleepless at 5 months!

I am a bit late getting to this post. Every time I sit down to do it someone wakes up. And all mothers can agree how hard it is to be on the computer with a wee one around. :)

Based on the amount of drool we have been seeing we knew the teething process was right around the corner. Caden's gums are swollen and there is finally white under his gums ! Which is very exciting and also exhausting. Caden has had some constipation issues for the past couple of months (I'm sure he will love that I put this in for all to read.) so we had some rough nights but now teething and constipation....we pulled way too many all nighters this month.

Besides our tummy and teeth he has been ALL smiles. He has the cutest dimples that he shows off to all of the nice people we meet along the way.

With his birthday being in the middle of the month it gets a bit confusing on which pictures and events happened during the actual month. So if there is any thing that is duplicated- don't tell Caden. :)

Here is what Caden has been up to:

- 1st D-backs games (end of August)  with Grammie and Pap
- Rolling over both ways now!
- Putting his binkie in his mouth
- Starting to help hold his bottle (such a big help)
- Found his tongue. Only time it's cute when they stick their tongue out at you :)
- It's officially football season- Go Cardinals!!

Since we did not go to the doctor this month to get his weight, I did the next best thing. I got on the scale and weighed myself, then got on the scale holding Caden and subtracted. Equaling a very healthy 16.5 pounds!

Both boys did amazing at the game!

After the game kids got to run the bases. Calvin stopped in the middle so I was "forced" to go out and rescue him :) It was SO much fun.

GO CARDINALS!!

The onesie says "Dad's Tools" I got this for Bryon his 1st father's day from Calvin and now Caden gets to wear it.

Look'n good!
