Spring Training Game

I really wanted to do something just the three of us before Caden arrived. We asked Calvin if he wanted to go to a sports game with just Mommy and Daddy. Calvin said he wanted to go to a basketball game (not what we thought he would say). We were offered Spring Training tickets and thought it would be fun for us to go. I was a little nervous about the peanuts but the family we got the tickets from had 4 seats, creating a perfect buffer for Calvin. We saw the Cubs and the Brewers play. Calvin did amazing wearing his gloving and cheering with the crowd. He only had to walk around for 2 innings and sat the rest of the game.

Cousin Wyatt has arrived!

Our 100th post gets to be about an adorable new baby!

Cousin Wyatt surprised us by wanting to come 3 weeks early! Katie went in Friday night to get checked and they found out her water was slowly leaking, which meant no going home for them. Since she wasn't in full on labor, the family got to sleep (at least attempt to sleep) the entire night and then we all headed down to the hospital the next day, St. Patrick's Day. I took Mia for a few hours in the morning and we got to watch Connor's first soccer game. (I was so distracted with the two of them, I forgot to take pictures.) Then it was lunch and naps and off to the hospital.

He finally arrived!!

 Wyatt William 8 lbs 4 oz and 21 inches long!

 Just a few hours shy of 24 hours of labor, so proud of Katie!

Calvin got to meet Wyatt on Tuesday. It is RSV time so only siblings are allowed to go into the room. We brought over dinner for everyone and got in our Wyatt fix. I wish I knew what Calvin was thinking...if I did here is what he might be telling Wyatt.

 "Wyatt, is that your blankie? You must always keep it in your sight cause you don't want to lose it."

"Tickle, tickle" (he really did say that one)

"That's right, you just put your thumb in your mouth and you are happy. Your shirt will get wet, but that's okay. Just use your blankie to wipe up the rest of your drool."

Adventures in Belly Pictures!

I really wanted to do my belly pictures in this field of wild flowers I saw one day driving down the road. When Bryon and I drove by to see if it would be a good spot to take pictures, we saw that the whole area was recently mowed. There were only little glimpses of where the wild flowers used to be. I started a new search and saw that they recently renovated a Red Lobster by our house with bright red walls and a thick piece of white wood in the center. Bryon and I finally decided one morning to do pictures before they opened so I wouldn't have to smell the fish. (And we were affraid they wouldn't let us take pictuers there.) Well...pregnancy brain moment 101, the Red Lobster by our house wasn't the one that was recently renovated. I still liked how it looked so we decided to do pictures there. I am still on the lookout for the one that I saw.

Bryon took my pictures, since I didn't want Katie to have to drive all the way out if we were told to leave. We brought along the tripod so we could squeeze in a family photo or two. Calvin of course gave us no trouble in taking pictures. He played photographer with the tripod while we took pictures. He would even say "smile Ma-ney".  I probably posted a few too many, but he was so cute I can't help but share them. I am not a fan of my full face but I guess that means I am close to the end!

Another one of my favorites. Bryon did this with Calvin's belly pictures, so we wanted to make sure we had one with Caden too. 

Swollen ankles, discomfort, and sleepless nights...

   If the title doesn't give it away, I am entering the last stages of my pregnancy. Tomorrow I will be 33 weeks! The past two weeks have been quite eventful. It all started two weeks ago when I went in for routine tummy check. The N.P. said my belly was measuring a little large but nothing that concerned her. She mentioned if my belly measured large again on my next visit they would probably order an ultrasound to check out my fluid levels.
  I didn't get alarmed at first because I haven't been able to wear my wedding ring for quite some time now and a little ankle swelling is normal.  A little swelling turned into "cankles" and my "cankles" turned into the legs of a linebacker. I talked to the doctor and they said to monitor vision problems, watch for headaches that don't go away, and high blood pressure. 
   So a week passed and I was still having swelling issues with headaches here and there. I was getting a little worried so I pushed off the headache as stress. Sunday we had a fun day helping my mom pick out her new booth at the Brass Armadillo. Then we went over to the 'original' Brass Armadillo to look at my mom's  booth and case, since my aunt was in town. After that it was dinner and what is a family dinner without a little LRC. I had a pounding headache that wasn't going away and I just wasn't feeling right. I happened to look down and notice my foot. It was the worst swelling I had seen but my right side was so much worse than my left. My uncle and cousin drove me up to the fire station to get my blood pressure checked out.  It wasn't great but it wasn't where they said I needed to go into OB triage. They said to call my doctor in the morning or go in that night if I felt worse. I called my doctor the next morning and they said to go into OB triage. Well being stubborn I wanted to been seen by my doctor who knew me and then if they said go in, I would. Well he was in the room for 2 minutes and looked at my leg and said to go over. BUMMER!
    So I spent my Monday in OB triage. I got a ultrasound of both legs checking for possible blood clots, an ultrasound of my belly to check fluid levels, blood work, and a urine test! All without getting a picture of Caden, rip off. My fluid levels came back higher than the normal range but nothing alarming. All other results came back normal and my blood pressure went down so much it was setting off the machine's alarm. When they finally let me go, they informed me that preeclampsia can show up at any time even if it didn't today. I left with good news and a vicodin in my system to get rid of my headache that was still there from the day before.
  So in the mean time, my cute sandals will have to wait for days when I am not as swollen. Caden is healthy so I can deal with "cankles" for a few more weeks.
